The Story Behind the Rosary for the Family

Did you ever have a brilliant idea in the middle of the night, only to wake and wonder, “What was I thinking about?” That’s what happened to me when I heard about the new Mysteries of Light which Pope John Paul II added to the Rosary to celebrate the “Year of the Rosary” (October 2002- October 2003).

As I was awakened three different times, I felt that the Lord had given me a mission to produce a new Rosary CD with all four sets of Mysteries on a single disk. It seemed like a huge task and  I was not sure I wanted to do it, but the Lord had already given two of my children the gifts needed to bring it about. My son is a musician and recording engineer in Nashville and my daughter is a graphic designer. When I approached them, they were more than willing to use the talents that God gave them to help me in this ministry.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, I wrote the meditations as though Jesus and Mary are speaking directly to the listener about family issues, so I wanted a real family to recite the Rosary prayers. What a blessing to hear this father of five lead his family in the Holy Rosary! It only takes seventeen minutes to complete a set of Mysteries.

For music behind the meditations and decades, I selected old familiar hymns, but my son wrote six original pieces for the CD. Meanwhile, my daughter was working on the superb graphics, selecting a simple but effective theme of an adult hand holding a child’s hand with a Rosary entwined around both.

My prayer is that all who pray the Rosary with this CD will find themselves falling in love with Jesus and Mary all over again. Mary has told us at Fatima that wars may be averted and the chastisements lessened through praying the Rosary. It is one of the greatest weapons we have to defeat the evil one who seeks to destroy us.

If your mind wanders while praying the Rosary, A Rosary For The Family can help you stay on track. Since it only takes seventeen minutes to complete a set of Mysteries, it is perfect for listening on the way to work or school.

I have no interest in personal monetary gain from this ministry. I just want the faithful to enjoy saying the Rosary and to pray it more often. All the profits from the sale of the CD are donated to the building fund of my home parish to further the Lord’s work in our area.
